My name is Racheal John and my major is advertising design. This is my last semester at New York City College of Technology (NYCCT) and I am excited about entering the industry. I am highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, WordPress and I love doing photography as a hobby. My interests are Afro-Futurism, Urban classic art, African Diaspora art and Korean pop music and culture. I also love learning about other cultures and their art and history. I strongly believe in learning and that the more you learn and open your mind to different cultures and their point of views and their arts and politics, the better your views on life and your art will be. Therefore, I incorporate many different art styles and elements that I’ve learned into my own work, which helps me with fresh new ideas. Unfortunately, I do not know any other languages except for English, but I would love to learn French and Korean.
I am currently working in NYCCT as a customer service/data entry worker in AG-18, the Atrium Learning Center on the ground floor. I assist design students in Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator and other students in Microsoft office. As a career choice, I would love to work at a major magazine company, but I know I have to start off small and build my way up, but I am passionate about magazine and editorial design, so I am willing to do what I need to in order to reach my goals.
