Greetings,
I would like to welcome you to LIB1201 HD50! My hope is that by the end of the course you have a new appreciation of the subject and that you may continue to use research as an invaluable tool in your academic career and for making decisions in everyday life.
My name is Prof. Nandi Prince. I will be your instructor for the next fifteen weeks and the entire course will be conducted in a hybrid learning format. The course runs from Aug 21 to December 21. Our classes will meet synchronously on Mondays via Zoom (live instructor-led sessions) and on campus on Wednesdays in room N-922A . You will also use OpenLab for some asynchronous discussions and assignments. I must emphasize that you will find important information about the course in the syllabus. Spoiler alert, it is located on the tab titled Syllabus to the far right of the top dashboard. Consider the syllabus a passport for success, it is a contract of sorts filled with valuable information. Some of the important information contained in the syllabus are:
class meeting times and format
assignments and deadlines
library resources such as live chatting with a librarian
college support for counseling, disability information, technical issues, tutoring, etc.
Let me tell you about me. I have a Masters in Library and Information Science and a Master of Arts in English. I am a former CUNY student. I received my Bachelors in Hospitality Administration from New York Institute of Technology. I enjoy researching and teaching students about it. Some of my hobbies are swimming, tennis, travelling and attending the theater. Two little known facts in some of my circles are: I am an accomplished cake artist and I am part of a tennis league.
I recommend you spend at least six hours additional time on the course material. This is a writing intensive course and no textbooks are required. I will respond to email from Monday to Friday with the exception of Tuesday between the hours of 9:00 am and 7:00 p.m. You can also arrange with me a time to discuss the course assignments by telephone.
Please contact me if you have questions about the course. I look forward to the next fifteen weeks!
