No one really likes bragging about their car… right? Well I have done a lot to my 95 hatch and I’m proud of the results. My car hasn’t seen a pair of tail lights yet on the track. Originally my hatch came with a 1.5 single cam non v tech motor, which only pushes out 90 horsepower. You can say I didn’t like that very much, so I did an engine swap at a friend’s shop in long island. The new motor was a GSR dual overhead cam motor. It was originally from an Acura Integra. The new motor was pushing out 180hp. because of the new motor I put in the hatch I had to get a GSR “LSD” transmission. LSD means limited slip differential. This was to split the amount of power going to both tires.
Besides doing the engine swap I also did some other fine tuning to help my car get track ready. I installed a bigger air intake system and manifold for better airflow, added a 2.5 inch exhaust system with a type R header for more exhaust flow. I added coil overs to adjust the ride height. By adjusting the ride height I lowered the vehicle to make it easier to handle at fast speeds.
Many cars come with limiters built into the vehicle that can stop a car from reaching certain speeds. To eliminate this I added a Hondata s300 ECU, which is a computer that can fine tune fuel and airflow that, can make the vehicle redline at higher RPMs.
