ESCAPE FROM PEDDOCKS ASYLUM
My culmination project will be a horror themed “Point and Click” game called Escape from Peddocks Asylum.
Point-and-click games are a genre in which rather than navigating an environment the player must use nothing but their mouse and some logic to find and assemble clues scattering the scene in order to escape a locked area, uncover a mystery, or complete a quest.
Some examples of popular point and click games include, Metaphobia, Grim Fandago, Blade Runner and Fallout 2.

PLOT SYNOPSIS
You the player are stuck in Peddocks Asylum, an Asylum on a nightmarish deserted island when you’ve suddenly been given the opportunity to escape. Your decisions will lead you along your journey to freedom, eternal imprisonment or even worse… death.
The player begins with an opportunity to escape the Asylum and potentially get off the island thanks to a friendly guard who leaves the cell door open.
From here, the player is presented with choices such as [[stow this object]] for later or [[choose the dark long hallway]]
or [[the stairs leading downstairs]].
The game and narrative is built of the player’s choices and decision making, leading to various outcomes as they weave together a journey to escape the Asylum and try to get off the island.
MECHANICS
The narrative based experience was originally built on Twine (tool used to make interactive/hypertext narratives in the form of web pages) and offered the player scenes where they must make choices leading to various different outcomes depending on what the player chooses that will affect every other decision the player makes including the final outcome.
In Unity (cross platform, more robust game engine) , I will have the opportunity to build the horrifying environments within Peddocks Asylum rather than simply conveying them through images and text like I did on Twine.
Furthermore, working with a more robust engine in Unity gives me more tools and resources to create a lot more new environments, characters, choice-points and decisions all will which vastly transform the entire narrative and gameplay.
