Linnette Fermin

My name is Linnette Fermin and I use she/her pronouns. I was born in manhattan and currently live in manhattan. I spent my whole life in manhattan but moved around about 7 times. My major is law and paralegal studies and I will move on to law school once I graduate. I started to gain interest in law during the pandemic after constantly watching the news and that’s where my passion for law grew. I want to focus specifically on Environmental law, I’m very passionate about natural resources preservation, the clean air act, etc. When I’m not in school I work as an assistant teacher in special education. Some of my hobbies are traveling, reading, watching football, and hiking.

Here is a picture of my dog, his name is Azul. He’s been with me since I was 12 and he’s been my emotional support for the past few years. He helped me become more active just by going outside more, and hiking he’s a great companion, and because I go outside so much I’ve connected more with nature. The environment plays an important role in my emotional state, This is one of the reasons why I want to mainly focus on environmental law in the future.

I look forward to meeting all of you!

John Michael

Hi everybody, my name is John Michael Vestal (they/them). I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but I’m living in Queens now. I’m studying Data Science because I’ve always been good with math and gaining knowledge from statistics is an interesting way for me to look at the world. I used to be a Musical Theatre major at Molloy college, so singing, dancing, and acting are some of my interests. I love video games, some of my favorites are Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the Splatoon series. Furthermore, I also love to read, I love lots of genres of music, but I listen to a lot of rock.

That leads me into my photo, which is of my guitar. I got my first guitar in when I was 9 and I have been playing ever since. Music has always been a constant in my life when other things aren’t guaranteed. Some of my favorite artists are Green Day, Finish Ticket, Bastille, and many others. I mentioned I like to sing, and that often goes along with playing my guitar. I’ve always like the idea of joining a band, but it’s something I haven’t gotten to yet. But it’s never too late! We will see. I’m looking forward to this course and to learn as much as I can.

Hello everyone (Nim Tse)

My name is Nim Tse, and I use he/him pronouns. I was born in China but immigrated to the United States at a young age. Brooklyn has been the place that I call my home for two decades. I have always wanted to work in a health-related profession, and the reason I chose City Tech is that my mother also got her bachelor’s degree in nursing. I am currently in my last semester of the associate’s program in nursing and will hopefully continue in City Tech to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the same major. Outside school, I work as a tutor teaching college-level chemistry courses, which I enjoy. I look forward to this class as the history of the Harlem Renaissance interested me when I took U.S. history in high school. I plan to pursue reading as another hobby when I have more availability.

Below is a picture of me in my nursing uniform that I took last year. That day was my birthday, and I was wearing it for my clinical. When I am in that nursing uniform, I think of all the hard work it took me to reach where I am today. It also symbolizes my responsibilities as an advocate for patients and a potential educator for my community. Education has been a significant component of my life. With different identities as a chemistry and nursing student, it shapes me into a new future, sharing what I know based on experiences.

Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Best regards,

Nim Tse
