Volunteering & Civic Engagements

“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.” – Aristotle

If there’s one thing we all have in common it’s that we all live on the planet Earth. I believe it is always better to give and help people in order to improve the quality of life for all.

During my journey as a student dental hygienist, I was given the opportunity to volunteer and engage with children from underprivileged communities. These opportunities allowed me to educate and promote oral health awareness to children, and give them an opportunity to access preventative services.

The Student Learning Project, Head Start – Educational Fluoride Varnish Program, and volunteering at Greater New York Dental Meeting were all rewarding experiences it provided reciprocal benefits both to disadvantaged children and me. These engagements have helped reinforce my didactic knowledge, offered an opportunity to provide preventative service, and increase my interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

I encourage you to browse through my volunteering and civic engagement activities I have completed throughout my journey of the dental hygiene program.
