My name is Naila Legros and I believe that with the proper oral care I can change lives.
It all started when I took the initiative to reach into my mothers first aid kit to grab some disposable gloves. I wanted to help extract my older sister’s primary tooth, she had been in a lot of pain and I was concerned. I was merely six years old, clueless to the direction my life was headed and optimistic to the innumerable and untold prospects of my future. The only thing I was sure of, was that my older sister was in discomfort and needed my help.
It seemed like after my sister’s tooth was wiggled out my parents looked at me for every dental related issue the family would have. I must admit, their encouragement surely implanted the initial notion to seek a career in dentistry. And at six years old I enjoyed the idea of floating in a princess dress and being the tooth fairy for a living. Although the tooth fairy was unrealistic and a simple baby tooth extraction was something so minuscule, it paved the way to my passion and lead me to dental hygiene school. Who knew that believing in something so mythical and alleviate my sister’s dental pain would lead to a life fascinated with oral hygiene.
