I attended Omnicom Health Group’s Info Session at the school on Feb. 29th from 12-1 p.m. I learned some basics about Omnicom Health Group’s customers, employees and some work during a presentation by Omnicom Health Group’s HR. I was also surprised that Omnicom Health Group has more than 200 agencies and also has more than 5000 employees. And there are also some agencies that are specialized in serving the employees and providing a healthy and happy working environment.
I gained a lot from the presentation, about their work, some career and internship opportunities, etc. I learned a lot about their work, both illustration and graphic design. Especially the 3 illustrations by X genentech, X genentech illustrations are about cancer. The meaning is that no matter what kind of person it is, no matter what age, skin, shape, cancer doesn’t discriminate. hr will also talk about how they accomplished this work, their first step was to come up with 50 ideas and then they went through a screening process before choosing a final idea. I was surprised because 50 ideas is a lot and choosing one from that many is more work than I can imagine. I learned that teamwork is important, and in this series of illustrations, every detail was done by hand. The illustrations, fonts, etc. were all handmade by the team. I love that, a team moving forward together for the sake of the work. It also worries me a bit because I’m not that skilled at teamwork yet.
Then there are some e-books that will provide entertainment for the child who is so unfortunate to be sick at Christmas or the holidays and in having to spend the holidays in the hospital. I remember they said we could watch them for free on the website. I love the care and responsibility that Omnicom Health Group puts into their patients. And there are also sites about menstruation and some experiences with an illustrator.
There is also an interesting daily life video about Omnicom Health Group. The video shows a day in the life of an employee by using modeling to show the employee and the interior of the company. Inside the company the viewer can see the internal structure of the company, and on the walls there are some big screens showing some real advertisements, both vertical and horizontal. There were also interactions between the employees, I remember working, chatting and dancing. hr said that this video could be a better way to introduce the company to the customers. I think so too, because the video presentation is also the interesting way to introduce the company than the verbal narration.
I learned a lot from this Omnicom Health Group presentation, basic information about a big company, some of the works and especially some of the process of X genentech illustration. Applying for their summer internships is also easy and can be done on their website.
