Midterm Project:
For those of you who were absent your midterm project (which is due today but I will give extensions to those who need it) is to:
(re)design a book cover or album art for a book/album you have read or listened to but felt did not represent the content. You may use Photoshop and/or Illustrator. 300 DPI/CMYK and the dimensions should be the actual size of the book or album. For example, The size of the typical cardboard LP sleeve cover is 12.375 in (31.43 cm) square. Export as a jpeg or png and upload to your site before class!

Homework!
Please create a mash-up on Audition using at least two or more songs and one additional source such as a part of a speech/line in a movie etc. You do not have to use a lot of the source. It could even be one word or one 4 beat loop. They should be between 30 sec-2 min.

Archive.org is the biggest internet archive. Try clicking on electric sheep and scroll down to see all the download options. Choose H264 (which is a codec youtube recommends.

I’ve never used jamendo.com but it also seems to have free downloads.

This is the class Open Lab site. As the semester progresses further assignments, instructions and extra resources will be posted here.

Although lateness is preferred to absence, it will affect your grade. If you are absent, you are responsible to make up the work in a timely fashion.
Each of you will be creating an Open Lab/Wordpress site for all the work you produce in this class. Your site should be customized in a manner that is professional and highlights your work. Please be make sure that I have your Open lab URLs ASAP.
Assignment 1:
Please create an Open Lab site. You will need to have a City Tech email to create this site. If you are having trouble accessing your site visit the quick links on City Tech’s website for tech support. http://www.citytech.cuny.edu/
- Customize your page with a responsive theme that supports multimedia, an original header, personalized colors, title, and tagline. Your header can be a photograph that you recently took or an image that you have designed. Be aware of the ideal pixel size as you design a header.
- Create an “About Me” page. This should be a simple bio that reflects who you are. You may also include a photograph.
- Create your first post which can simply be a bit of text welcoming us to your site. Feel free to upload a photo etc.
