Case Study #1: Arestin Case
A 36 year old Hispanic male presented for dental cleaning. Non systemic conditions. Non allergies. Generalized moderate gingival inflammation. The patient’s gingiva appeared red, bulbous and soft with rolled gingival margins, moderate BUP.
Probing depths range from 4-5 mm. Patient’s gingiva also presented with multiple recessions on upper and lower molars regions. His clinical attachment loss on the upper and lower posteriors is due to recession that is between 4-6 mm. Patient has type II periodontitis. Radiographs taken on 10/14/17 shows evidence of generalized horizontal bone loss.
Due to periodontal findings, patient is a candidate for Arestin placement in conjunction with scaling and root planing. When the patient came back for follow-up I had good results, greatly reduce the 5mm pockets to 2mm.
