Prof. Montgomery
– the drawing shows east and south elevation of the pier
-water level
-current condition of the pier
* Brief description of the drawing, ( definition, scale, what it is supposed to convey, etc.)
* Personal views (survey experiences, why I chose to do a particular drawing, etc.)
*(Resilient) Aperture protection solution….(its basic design, possible variations, etc.)
1. It is really important that the front of the building is protected because thats where all of the waves are mostly likely going to hit first. You need to cover up any openings such ass doors & windows to prevent the water from getting inside the building.
2. Since these sectional drawings cut through the middle looking at both sides, you see the the cast iron pintle which keeps the building balanced, the floor beams, floor griders running across and the floor planking which is the decking.
3.In case of a storm, what we might want to do is maybe try to get the wooden columns temporarily covered with some sort of membrane to keep the columns from being present to water because when you change the moisture of a wood, it can get damaged which can cause problems later on. We want to avoid those problems.
Site plan.
1. The drawing shows closeness and exposure of Pier 41 to water, it depth and direction of incoming waves
2. It gives an idea of building base system showing the openings and blind arches, through which water entered the building during Sandy.
3. The drawing contains information about FEMA zone resignation and base flood elevation.
A short explanation that I’m planning to say about my drawing.
