My Courses
This course introduces students to core concepts in the graphic communications field including typography, color theory, design and production terminology, reproduction processes, file formats and substrates. During the semester, students will complete three pages of their own ePortfolio web site. Lectures will provide students with a historical perspective of the graphic communications field as well as discussing current practices and future trends.

COMD 3532 OL84 (16083) Production for Designers
Course Description: Production for Designers focuses on current print and production procedures that can prepare designers and creative thinkers for real-world situations. Understanding print (offset and digital), and the process of production is an essential part of the design process that can assure a predictable outcome of deliverables. Emphasis is on the importance of project planning and management, personal communication skills to better interface with colleagues and to understand the three key components of modern print production. Topics include print media specifications, digital and offset prepress, page imposition, proofing, Paper and substrates, specialty printing, budget management, understanding of color management, and preparation of files. Applied discussion of reverse engineering, workflow, and project planning are critical to this course. This course will also explain the relationship between the world of Advertising, marketing and related digital and analog production techniques, Strategic use of Internet search engines, websites, and leveraging tools of technology is demonstrated to support student efforts.
