My name is Shaquille Garvey and I’m working on a 4 year illustration, animation, majoring in communication design. So far I’m approaching my third semester finishing up my second year and getting my two year degree next year 2019

English 2001 is designed to develop students’ ability to critically analyze and understand literary works of fiction. Using close reading, discussion and various writing techniques, you will consider language, details and style in order to develop your analytical and academic writing skills. This is a communications intensive course; you will be expected to participate actively in class discussions and presentations, write informal and formal essays, and respond to your classmates’ writing.

COMD4900 OL92 35050 Internship, SP2021

Internship in Communication Design (Asynchronous) Assignment to field work/study situations of approximately eight to 20 plus hours per week at a graphic arts-related internship site approved by the department internship director. Sites may be in areas such as advertising, printing, corporate communications or publishing. Students keep a log/journal to be shared in group seminars/discussions. Supervision is by faculty and by the job supervisor. Students will be required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog using Open Lab.

COMD 3613 Advanced Illustration (Developing an Illustration Brand)

This course is designed to prepare students for entry into the professional world of illustration. We will exam methodologies for assembling a “targeted” portfolio for specific markets, by developing a personal illustration style. Students will learn how to brand and market that style. Writing professional proposals and creating self-generated projects will also be stressed. Business procedures, artist resources, creating a client list, and job-hunting skills will be discussed.

COMD2327 – Type II, S2017

Introduces a variety of basic layouts and formats, building technical and practical fluency in setting and working with type for both print and screen. This course further explores topics learned in COMD 1167 Type and Media, such as typeface selection and the use of the typographical grids. Problem-solving for most common typographical problems is discussed. Prerequisite: COMD 1167 Equivalent to old course ADV 1217
