Overview of legal implication of acts by hospitality professional, employees, guests and visitors. Analysis of rights, responsibilities and risk management of hospitality industry establishments. Discussion of historical and current liability, governmental regulations, predictability and probability in the environment.
Examine the role of management and leadership in hospitality and other service organizations. Identify both challenges and opportunities facing organizations such as responding to globalization, managing workforce diversity, stimulation, innovation and change, improving quality and productivity and other issues relevant to the management of human resources in todayâs dynamic business climate.
This course provides an in-depth evaluation of âNew Worldâ viticulture and vinification. Wine making methods, service, laws and regulations of the major wine regions of North America, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina and South Africa will be studied. Students will taste and evaluate wines. Supported by a grant from the Julia Child Foundation, student will make wine at Red Hook Winery. Prerequisite: HMGT 2402
HMGT1101_Perspectives in Hospitality Management_Fall 2021 â Prof. Dallis
Prof. Dallis guides students through an overview of the history, likely directions and organizational structure of the hospitality industry and its role in local, national and global economies. Students are introduced to the nature and scope of the hospitality industry, basic terminology, management concepts, career path explorations and the departmentâs mission and culture.
