3 Credits / Meets every 2 weeks. Prerequisites: Design 4 & Building Tech 4 This elective course allows students with a course director-approved internship/job to enroll. Student assignments include a running journal of events and experiences at the workplace for class discussion, as well as opinion reviews, written and graphic reports, and a final presentation of project/s produced at the internship workplace. This special topics course offers an interdisciplinary approach to investigating our built environment using a case study focused on a specific place each semester. This course combines physical examination with information research and data collection using methodologies developed in multiple disciplines. Students from a variety of departments engage in on-site exploration and in-depth research of a location in New York City.

The architectural process involved in designing small to medium size projects for specific building types. Scope covers initial research and analysis, program development, flow diagrams, schematic design, and massing studies through final presentation. Final presentations will include drawings and models reviewed by a design jury.
