ENG3401 Law through Lit, FA2018

An exploration of concepts of justice, higher law, customary law and written law expressed through works of fiction and non-fiction. The course seeks to enhance the student’s sensitivity to issues of ethics, gender bias and class consciousness ans they affect the administration of justice. Readings improve communication skills and strengthen legal skills of identifying, articulating and locating problems in the context of underlying legal issues. Written assignments emphasize expository writing skills.

City Tech students participate in clubs and organizations, reflecting a broad range of academic and social interests. Working closely with student clubs and the Student Government Association, Student Life and Development promotes full participation and access to student events and activities without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, age, religion, disability status, gender identity, sexual orientation or national origin. Our club engages in many aspects of the law. We have in the past scheduled annual trips to the Court of Appeals in Albany and to the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington D.C.
