MECH4800: Advanced 3D Animation Spring2016

MECH4800: Advanced 3D Animation Spring2016

2 cl hrs, 2 lab hrs, 3 cr Extends techniques learned in earlier industrial design courses (IND 2313 and IND 2410) and builds upon theories introduced in earlier animation courses (such as IND 2420). Foundation for advanced animation construction, incorporation of and integration with external media, and techniques to automate and optimize development processes. Dynamic particles, flexible soft body creation, texturing, “hair” particles, fluid simulation, rigging, lighting, and plant simulation. Prerequisites: MECH 3510

MECH 2410 – Machine Design

MECH 2410 – Machine Design

This course teaches students on how to design functional mechanical components and systems using engineering knowledge, communication skills, and design principles they learned from the Mathematics, Physics, Communication and library art courses, Engineering Statics, Strength of Materials, Materials Sciences, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software packages. Students are required to complete a multidisciplinary hands-on design project utilizing concurrent engineering approach incorporating mechanical and electronic and software design into their design work.

Senior Design Project

Senior Design Project

This is a follow-up course of the two product design courses (IND 3610, Product Design I, and IND 4710, Product Design II). It provides graduating students a hand-on opportunity to practice concurrent engineering design. It requires students to pull all the knowledge and skills they acquired in early courses and apply them towards the design and implementation of a product thus giving the students an opportunity to experience team-based design under conditions that closely resemble current industry practice. Students will also develop and sharpen skills in team organization, time management, self-discipline, and technical writing, in order to be successful in this course.

MAT 1175 – Fundamentals of Mathematics

MAT 1175 – Fundamentals of Mathematics

Topics include linear and quadratic functions, intermediate algebra, plane geometry and trigonometry of the right triangle.

My Projects

Design of a Stand-Up Power Wheelchair

Design of a Stand-Up Power Wheelchair

In this project, one professor and three students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology will design and prototype a stand-up power wheelchair which enables a patient to switch between seating and standing positions with a click of button. This will be done by several tests including; stress analysis, and motion analysis. Also research was done in order to meet ethical, health needs and requirements. The stand-up functionality offers many physical and psychological benefits previously unavailable in traditional wheelchairs. By supporting the patient’s body into a standing position, this chair improves circulation, muscle tone and helps prevent bone deterioration. The goal is to enable the patient to speak eye-level with others. As a result the patient will greatly improve their self- esteem and confidence.
