Research in the Social and Behavioral Sciences
An introduction to the research methodologies utilized in the social and behavioral sciences, beginning with the fundamentals of research design, through data collection, analysis, interpretation, and the final reporting of results. Both quantitative and qualitative designs are examined using software to aid in inquiry and analysis.
COMD3601 Information Design, S2020
Theory and practice of designing with information. Topics include graphs, charts, pie-charts and diagrams. Through advanced assignments related to information graphics, exhibition design and wayfinding systems, students will synthesize and design complex data sets. Preparation of final work using current design software applications.
COMD1103 Foundation Drawing, D120, FA2016
This is an introductory course designed to explore the basic tools, techniques and principles of drawing. Students will develop an understanding of the five basic perceptual skills of drawing: The Perception of Edges, The Perception of Spaces, The Perception of Relationships, The Perception of Light and Shadow, and The Perception of the Whole Form. This will be continued with an-depth study of classical drawing principles critical to achieving realism in drawing. Concepts such as Composition, Proportion and Perspective will be covered. Students will learn to further render forms through analysis of light and shadow and by utilizing the 5-value system.
ENG2400, Films From Literature
This course will allow students to examine the relationship between film and their literary sources.
COMD4900 Internship HD98 Spring 2019 Goetz
Student is assigned to find fieldwork/study situations of approximately eight hours per week at an internship site approved by the Department Internship instructor. Approved Sites include advertising agencies, graphic design firms corporate design offices, publications art departments, photography or illustration studios, TV or multimedia production companies. Students will be required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog using Openlab. A portion of the class will be devoted to presenting and sharing experiences with classmates. Students will learn how to assess their talents, update their resume, and promote themselves and their work through social networks during class meetings. Students will be required to setup and maintain at least two social media networks such as: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.

The CUNY Youth Ambassador Program
The CUNY Youth Ambassador program is a CUNY-wide program founded by professors Bonanome and ElHitti and launched at their CUNY home institution, City Tech under the direction of its founders. The mission of the program is to build an understanding within CUNY of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, specifically the global education goal (SDG4) and seed a movement of informed student youth advocates active in local, national and international education spaces. In collaboration with the UNESCO GEM (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization General Education Monitoring Report) team in Paris, the program directors launched this initiative in February 2018.
