This course is designed to help you find your public writing voice.
English 1121 is a course in composition, reading skills, and core critical thinking skills. The class will explore many genres, discourses, and multimedia to explore many ideas and readings.
Students communicate technical and scientific information to a variety of audiences through written and oral presentations using electronic media such as the Internet, Power Point and graphics programs. Students also analyze readings in science and technology, study technical writing models, and practice collaborative research and presentation.

Analysis and critical understanding of selected plays is the heart of this course. As plays are meant to be watched, not read, you will be viewing them online—not an ideal situation, but this is not an ideal time. Your task will be to relate the plays to audiences today, particularly during this pandemic.

First-Year Writing Professional Development
This project is for faculty participating in professional development for the First-Year Writing program at City Tech.
This is a site to showcase all things literature here at City Tech: the literature courses the English Department offers each semester, the various events that happen (e.g., Literature Roundtable, Literary Arts Festival, Science Fiction Symposium), and the publications we offer (e.g., ‘City Tech Writer).
My Clubs
Theatreworks, the resident theatre company at New York City College of Technology, is composed of students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members. Founded in 1974, Theatreworks has been recognized in the media and theater circles for its commitment to professionalism in performance, technology and the advancement of multicultural casting and crews in plays, videos, musicals, dance and other events. This unique approach to theatre has given Theatreworks citywide recognition and an audience from the greater New York area. Theatreworks is now performing in the state-of-the-art Voorhees Theatre, where a haunted hotel, the Gravesend Inn, has opened each October to hundreds of spectators for over 13 years. Each spring semester a resident group is hosted on campus to work with the Theatreworks students. Student technicians receive valuable training by participating in the lighting, sound, costume, video, publicity and scenery crews for performances each year. Theatreworks alumni can be found in the professional theater, in television and concert venues, and working with many theater-related companies in their respective communities.
