     BET Centric Logo – From Jazz to Centric

The Black Entertainment Television changed over time through typography, style and color to express the beauty of African American human beings to gain more views. “Know that I can’t get over you. Cause everything I see is you. And I don’t want no substitute. Baby I swear it’s Déjà vu.” Black Entertainment Television began around 1996 known as “BET on Jazz” and over time they changed it to BET. A network for African American both men and women to be shown through a form of music and film: Gospel, Hip-Hop, Jazz/ Soul; and supporters documentaries and film productions.

 

Over the years the BET logo has made a major impact on the company itself. Around 1996 BET Jazz became a big spin off for Black Television, with the focus of Jazz only, then later focused on all general music as well. According to underconsideration.com it states that, “Centric, as it was renamed in 2009 while shifting its content to a general-interest adult African-American network, is now fully dedicated as “The First Network Designed for Black Women”. In November of last year, Centric introduced a new identity and on-air look designed by New York, NY-based Gretel.” This refers back to the development and history of BET Logo over time, with this form of information this transition has made a great impact on itself. According to shadowandact.com the author stated that, “We have developed a deep and authentic relationship with our audience over the last 36 years, and it is that genuine connection that has allowed BET to expand into a global multiplatform brand. This year, we are committed to reaching far beyond the television screen and continuing to deliver more of the premium content that our audiences have come to expect,” said Debra Lee, Chairman and CEO, BET Networks. “With BET being more accessible across more platforms, we are creating a powerful 360 degree experience for our audience to interact with the BET brand like never before.” This was the start of BETher. From BET Jazz to Centric now to BETher another branch that has made a huge impact on Black Entertainment Television itself referring to multichannel.com,

“There isn’t one place dedicated for black women to be entertained, inspired and empowered, and the BET Her brand defines that,” Thornton said. “BET is the biggest, most successful African-American network, and now her little sister is dedicated to black women in a really smart, fun way.” These three pieces of information they all show how BET has grown within itself and has made a huge impact both development and visually.

 

As humans, we’re admired by colors, texture, and the art within itself. The production of BET has made it very interesting for the audience to engage more into the business using those components. Every company and brand has a goal and according to, underconsideration.com the author states,

,” The new logo is the heart of this brand. It embodies complexity and variation in both its form and fill. The logo is ever changing, it can take on a range of styles and reflect an array of personalities.” The way they set the colors were in a way for it to be more attractive and engaging. “The multiple layering, pacing, colors, and motion behaviors are extreme and fast-paced. Perhaps for some it might just be too much — and it would be a very justifiable opinion… In print, the identity is able to translate the restrained frenetic energy of the motion pieces with heavily layered layouts and ever-changing logos that convey its dynamic nature. It also looks as if everything is set up using C, M, Y, and K, making it easy to overlay and/or separate colors and get fully vibrant hues every time. Overall, this is one of my favorite TV branding projects in some time. It’s very ambitious in its foundation — from photographing models to capturing textures and patterns in motion — while the result is visually gratifying and very much a distinct proposition for the audience.” With these form of evidence it explains and goes into depth on how the production was created with a design point of view. From basic type design, to gifs and using CMYK, different forms of type (logos) and beautiful images.

 

In conclusion, The Black Entertainment Television changed over time through typography, style and color to express the beauty of African American human beings to gain more views.
