“‘Schools Are Killing Curiosity’: Why We Need to Stop Telling Children to Shut up and Learn.” The Guardian, Guardian News and Media, 28 Jan. 2020, www.theguardian.com/education/2020/jan/28/schools-killing-curiosity-learn.

In the passage “Schools are killing curiosity”, Wendy Berliner tells us that it’s important to let children be curious. It’s important for children to ask questions to expand their knowledge not just of school but everything else around them. According to the writer, it’s a major point that we encourage curiosity in children, to lower the opportunity gap among children in different environments. To develop early learning people should let children be curious for successful education. The writer gives an example of how people in the educational communities are not paying attention to the children’s mental health or their lives outside of school. They are just focused on the students’ behaviors and how well they do in school. The writer mentions that teachers should support children’s curiosity by allowing them to ask questions. Having to answer children’s questions while giving a lesson can be hard but it’s for the student’s benefit. Already there isn’t much creativity in school and curiosity decreases.
