“Rejection is redirection, remember if it’s meant to be it’ll be.” My Mom has told me this since the age of 8 for as long as I can remember. But this quote meant so much more once high school started. During high school I pushed myself to be an excellent student as I knew when it came to college applications, I would want to get into my dream school by all the efforts I have put in throughout my 4 years. My mom was always my inspiration as she came from a foreign country having to work hard for everything our family has today. Due to my mother’s background, she knew about rejection and how to deal with rejection very well.
Through her experience with rejection, she was thankful for it since it always led her to something better. I was very scared of rejection but came to realize that hardships happen for a reason, and nothing comes easy. That quote would always play in the back of my mind, that I was also able to come to peace with rejection and take it as an opportunity. So, thanks to my mother I was able to raise my standards when it came to my classes, tests, presentations, homework, etc. Before I knew it, it was time to apply to colleges, I was super nervous, overwhelmed, and knew that there were possibilities for rejection. And when there’s rejection doors open too many paths towards greatness.
Hi Miah, I also believe rejection is redirection. Things may not always go the way one expects them to. However like you said when one door closes, another one opens.
Good work. I see that your mom has been an important person for you on your educational journey.
If you choose to use this as the seed for your Ed Narrative, can you give some details about your Mom’s backstory?
Can you reach back into your memory and SHOW me that time when “[t]hat quote would always play in the back of my mind, that I was also able to come to peace with rejection and take it as an opportunity.” What rejection in your school life are you hinting at? Was this an important event in your educational journey? Can you turn your memory into a scene and show me how your mom’s words helped you?
