RAB Proposal Paragraph-Jazmyn B.

My research question is: “How is modern day AI affecting media targeted towards today’s youth and is it harming their development?” This topic interests me because I’m a big advocate for people in “people vs. ai” argument when it comes to whether or not AI should replace jobs in the animation industry. AI can’t replicate effort and intention from humans.  Also, I’ve noticed an overall decline in quality and safe media to consume, unlike for the maybe past generation. I already know that AI is becoming more accessible in the modern day. Additionally, despite Youtube having guidelines about AI-generated content, none of them are really successfully challenging/censoring anything actually posed towards younger audiences. Lastly, too many bright colors and/or sounds played on loop(or just long periods in general) is not healthy for children in any way, shape, or form. Some points that I plan to explore and find out more about are how exactly the parents of said children are reacting to this situation, how specifically people are able to push out such content at alarming rates, and the actual psychological effects it has its audience, aka children.

  1. Hi Jazmyn,

I think your research question is super interesting, especially with how AI is becoming more involved in creating media for kids. I really like how you’re focusing on the possible negative effects of AI-generated content on children. One thing you could consider is looking more closely at the psychological impact of this content, like how it might affect kids’ attention spans or development over time. It could also be interesting to explore if certain types of AI-generated media are more harmful than others. I’m really curious to see where you take this topic. Great start!
