Project Proposal – Jerick Espinal

  • Research Question: My research question is ā€œWhat would happen if a person fell into a black hole?ā€
  • Message: I want to teach my audience the effects of falling into a black hole and what exactly happens throughout. I would also like to teach them how this can connect to learning more about the mysteries and unknown about black holes.
  • Audience: Iā€™m targeting an audience of people who are just as into space as me, wanting to learn more about its mysteries and also wanting to learn more about the unknown through theoretical senses.
  • Genre: Iā€™m deciding to do a video essay for my project. I chose a video essay because I believe itā€™s the best way to explain my topic and to me feels like the best way to put my ideas. I also chose it since Iā€™ve had a couple of experiences with videos and editing, wanting to use this as a gateway to try and get back into my video editing hobby I had during the pandemic since, it was something I enjoyed.
  • Plan: When it comes to this, Iā€™ll probably end up making a script for my video before doing any sort of recordings or editing. Iā€™ll do this to keep myself on track and not end up jumping over important points in my video and also so I donā€™t go rambling on about one topic for a long time. Iā€™ll also plan on getting used to my preferred editing software Adobe After Effects again, since I havenā€™t used it in about a year or so, meaning Iā€™ll probably be pretty rusty at it, so tutorial videos on how to use it again will be handy.
  • Concerns: The one thing Iā€™m mostly worried about is rendering times and hopefully After Effects not crashing on me. I am also kind of worried how good my script will come out and how many times I might need to rewrite it since I can usually write a lot but I have problems with punctuation and when to end sentences.
  • Mentor Text: My mentor text for my video essay will be ā€œBloodborne: A World Without Hopeā€ by ShinigamiEater. Iā€™m using this video since I want to try and capture his tone of voice throughout his video, the way he speaks or the stuff he does to engage the viewers into continuing to watch the video and also to examine the way he edits his video and take inspiration from it.
