I am changing it up on the HW.  I don’t want to give you too much work in reading and studying another practice article.  SO–

Open Lab HW2 Due Friday October 11

You will write a summary of the “Schools Kill Curiosity.”  I did demonstrate how I would write a summary, but now everyone can write their own summary.  (If you try to copy mine, you won’t learn anything!) On Monday, we read the article together and we studied the structure and annotated looking for the MIs (Main Ideas).  Use your annotated printout of the article.  Read the article again, as many times as you need to know it really well.  (In order to write a good summary, you should know an article really well.)  Think about the outline I put up on the board and try to come up with one main point form each part of the article.  Use the Graphic Organizer to map out the points you will use in your summary.

Study the handout I gave out called Writing a Summary – this is an excellent guide to writing good summaries.

If you were absent, it’s on you to find and printout the “Templates for Summary” on the Research Project Resources page.  (There are consequences for your absence.)

Tomorrow I will announce HW 3 which will be due Sunday night and it will be a first draft of your RAB proposal as we discussed in class today.
