Guidelines for Final Writing Portfolio
Due Wednesday May 17 via GDrive and BB
NO LATE PORTFOLIOS ACCEPTED.
THIS IS A FIRM DEADLINE. I TOO HAVE A DEADLINE TO SUBMIT GRADES TO THE COLLEGE. IF YOU DO NOT TURN IN YOUR PORTFOLIO ON Wednesday May 17, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TURN IN A FINAL COURSE GRADE FOR YOU.
Your final portfolio consists of revisions of both Unit 1 and Unit 2 assignments — and Unit 3 as a first-time submission. You may NOT turn in the Education Narrative Unit 1 Essay or The RAB Unit 2 Document for the first time as part of your portfolio. Those deadlines have passed.
Checklist of What Should Be Included:
- Revised Essay Unit #1 Education Narrative
- Revised RAB Unit #2 Reflective Annotated Bibliography
- Unit # 3 Genre Assignment with Creator’s Statement (plus Outline/Plan/Storyboard/Interview Qs/Transcript)
REMEMBER: revision includes re-thinking, re-writing, more research, proofreading, understanding your patterns of error and editing (working to correct errors and make changes at the sentence level). Note that while editing is part of revising, simply doing editing changes is NOT revising and is NOT what I am looking for! For each revision, include a PARAGRAPH at the beginning that explains the ways in which you revised your assignment and why. Address what you learned from the feedback you received, and the suggestions you chose to incorporate (or not). If you did not revise, just simply write that you did not revise.
Portfolio Format
Remember that presentation counts! Organize your portfolio clearly and structured in the following way:
- In Blackboard: Submit a single file of your Final Writing Portfolio as MS Word document uploaded to BlackBoard. This file should contain 3 items: (1) the revised version of Education Narrative and (2) revised version of RAB and (3) Genre Assignment. If you created a video or audio, no need to upload this to the BB. I only need the written items in the Final Writing Portfolio in BB.
Title your file First Name Last Name Final Writing Portfolio.
Example: Jessica Castro Final Writing Portfolio
All documents should be in size 12 font Times New Roman, Double-spaced, and as a Word file.
Start each assignment on a NEW page.
- In Google Drive: Go to the folder Final Writing Portfolio. Submit a single file of your latest, revised papers as one single MS Word document. This file should contain 3 items: (1) the revised version of Education Narrative and (2) revised version of RAB and (3) revised Genre Assignment.
If your Genre Project is a video or audiofile, then create a folder in the FInal Writing Portfolio folder. In this folder, submit your revised Unit 1 and revsied Unit 2 and any written parts of Unit 3 (transcript, outline, interview Qs). Then upload your video or audio file (an mp3 or mp4) as a separate item in this folder. So in this case, your folder will have two items.
Title your file First Name Last Name Final Writing Portfolio
Example: Jessica Castro Final Writing Portfolio
All documents should be in size 12 font Times New Roman, Double-spaced and in MS Word — no PDFs.
Start each assignment on a NEW page.
Some shortcuts to help you assemble the portfolio electronically:
- Ctrl+A highlights all the text in a document
- Ctrl+C copies the text in a document
- Ctrl+V pastes the text you copied into final portfolio
- Ctrl+Z undoes the last change you made to document.
REMEMBER: You must preserve the original final drafts in the Google Drive. I need to be able to view those original submissions in order to evaluate your revisions in the Final Writing Portfolio. If you disturb those original final drafts then I will not be able to give you credit for your revision work!
