My research question is: How have negative stereotypes affected African American youths?
I would like to point you in the direction of the op-ed or interview genres (podcast). I am considering writing an op-ed because I feel it would allow me to share my thoughts and express myself more. I’m also thinking about interviewing some of my close friends, as well as my brothers and cousins, to get their views on the subject. This would also allow me to broaden my knowledge.

This sentence doesn’t belong: “I would like to point you in the direction of the op-ed or interview genres (podcast).” I think you mistakenly copied from my example. Just say: I am considering Op-ed or Interview as possible genres.
Here is an interesting feature article from today’s Washington Post…It makes me ask– How are negative stereotypes affecting Black young men? And the answer is that stereotypes can kill them.
