Process Documentation example

I find myself replacing broken screens and digitizers for phones and tablets quite often. I have become rather proficient at it, but the first couple of times I was asked to change one I had no clue what I was doing. So I hopped onto YouTube and searched for Videos to help me with my dilemma. I was surprised to find a large number of videos that documented the replacement process for many different phones, tablets, laptops. My example is a video on how to replace an iPhone 4 screen

Reading response of Edge and Robinson

Its true that documentation is all around us and most of the time we use documentation without ever being aware of that we are. Edges’ article made me realize that documentation can be used as a powerful tool for learning. not just in the class room but everywhere. All organizations need a way to document things from records to their SOPs. Like students if new employes where made to document their learning within the company they would probably become a more effective member within the organization. I would like to respectfully disagree with Robinson, The process by which things are documented can change but the standard set forth for the quality of the documentation does not. I have no problem holding someone to a standard of documentation that was being met before but for some reason it cannot be met anymore, that sounds like bull. The “Disillusionment” would not be there if people were held accountable and such inferior quality products were not allowed.

Process Documentation

The example of process documentation that I saw was a youtube video of a Chef Named Gordon Ramsay who is popularly know as a 4 star chef and has his own T.V show. the Video is called “Gordon Ramsay Cooking Lesson” and it teaches the viwers how to cook  harissa sardines on horseradish toast. it was very quick and informative

reading response of Edge and Robinson

All organizations need documenations, because it is a very necessary process for the organizations to keep their resources. And it is a very effective to way to improve working standard and efficiency. According to Irene E. Edge, by requiring the students make documentations when the student do their project, the students made progress of learning the concept, and the student can go back and forth in their study to find out the changes that have been made and if there is any mistake during the project. Documentation is a very useful process, but it can also creat problem. According to Christine Robinson, documentation rises the expectations, especially in the quality management system. “When expectations are not met, disillusionment and discontent can result.” So we also have to find a way of balancing the process, to rise its efficiency to the maximum level.

Process documentation example

Process documentation is the recording or writing down the steps of a process. One example is the chemical experiment procedure and report. In a chemical experiment, the purpose of the experiment has to be defined first, then the experiment is carried out step by step. Observations and measurements are required at each step to determine whether the right chemical is formed.  Some experiments are very complex and requires many steps, documentation is necessary due to the complexity of the experiment and to check whether the results and observations are different from different trails. Documentation process is very useful in all the chemical experiment.

Notes for 4/30 – PLEASE READ!

Hello class!

Be sure to read and print out before class on Monday the assignments for the online documentation project and class presentation (in the assignments tab).

Also, most of you still need to post comments on last week’s readings, AND your example of process documentation (with link, or embedded in your post). This also needs to be done before class on Monday!

Media and Production

The article Critical Thinking, Deviant Knowledge and The Alternative Press by Eland, and the two articles on zines give good insight on why these alternatives are a great source of information. Zines and the sources given by Eland are organizations that aren’t as interested in making large profits. Some are even non profit. Their main difference from information presented by the media and large publications is that they aren’t biased or influenced by money. This allows more direct and less opinionated information. I believe its important for these sources to remain because in these times every source is manipulated by money and can lead to “cherry coated” or biased information in order to appeal to mass audiences.

Edge and Robinson on Documentation

I did not really consider the importance of documentation until I read these articles. Edge stated that without documentation the next person taking her job position would have great trouble knowing how things work. This sunk in my head an made me appreciate this a bit more. I also like how Edge applied documenting with her students and how documenting can really help us understand and communicate and succeed at whatever the goal is. Robinson’s article makes me dread documentation. It really can be an annoying process but its worth it in most cases.

copyright

I agree with Yaoling Zhu concerning the statement that the copyright laws are stopping us as evolving humans to create new and updated ideas and versions of the original date.I also believe that copyrights need to be shortened so that instead of the individual creator
