In Brian Martin’s article “The Politics of Research,” He discusses the effect of key groups controlling the flow of knowledge and research. They do this by being the ones who fund all this research making their agenda the one that gets completed. Research can be and is defined as “the process of testing existing knowledge and developing new knowledge” I feel that this definition is not enough. I think that the production of new technologies must also be included. The groups that provide the majority of funding like governments and corporations and universities are the ones who control the flow all because of money. This leads to many ideas being steamrolled simply because it does not benefit those who control the money. Martin goes on to described several ideas that would allow a more attainable version of knowledge and research. In a nut shell until we all believe that the advancement of research and knowledge is a common mans problem we will never move pasts today’s norm
