Progress Entry 2

10-21-20

It has been a little over a month since the last filming session and I’ve had time to learn from my mistakes. The most important thing I want to get right this time was my audio. I found out what the problem was and it was the cord to plug in the receiver to the camera, it was the wrong cord. The plug was supposed to used for phones and computers only and a separate cord for DSLR cameras. I can’t tell you how many times I practice using the lavalier microphones. I wasn’t going to make this mistake again. To be even more careful this time, I also ordered the Movo VXR10 Universal Video Microphone for the second camera so it can also pick up the audio also.

I had a meeting with my advisor Prof. Ryoya about 2 weeks prior. We went over my shoot list and what I should discuss more in the film. It made me thought that I wasn’t prepared enough with my shot list. The two shots I had were very similar and that I needed to come in a closer shot a close-up shot for the side and a medium shot for the front.  I made a drawing of what I wanted the shots to look like.

So it the 21st, and I have everything in order. My cameraman for the first Janae couldn’t make it because she had therapy, so it was just me and Sao, which made it a little bit harder. Earlier in the day, I meet with Janae and she let me borrowed her camera and tripod. I had like 2 hours to prepare for the shoot. So learning how to work her camera was so much fun-“sarcasm”.

Not only was I the director and both cameramen, but Janae’s camera died half way into filming. “If you don’t have a horse ride a cow” my mother always told me. I had to think quick, so I replaced my camera with Janae’s and used my phone as the side camera. Yes, I was worried about what it would look like in post but I knew I would find a way to finesse it.

With all the problems I went through the filming process was over. I way more than needed and I was pleased with the results afterward. Now let’s get to the second lap, which is editing.
