Faculty Workshop Spring 2014

Content

Probably the most important element of your website is its content. Content is anything from basic contact information to full embedded video.  Lecture notes, pdfs, word documents, images, audio, media, and graphics can be incorporated into your website.

If you are unsure about where to get content, contact your subject librarianThey will also aid you in what is permissible to use under copyright.

Creative Commons

A good place to get images is the Creative Commons. The Creative Commons allows you to browser through user generated media, such as photographs, graphics, music, film, and other media, and to freely distribute on your site, so long you follow their licenses.

Works under creative commons require attribution to the original creator of the content. Some creative commons do not allow works to be used for commercial purposes, or to be edited.

You can also search for material that is within the public domain. This includes works where the copyright has expired.
