Today as a class we went to the Cooper Hewitt Museum, ive never gone to this museum before I’ve been to the MET many times in the past and a couple of others but it was my first time experiencing this museum. This museum seems to be a bit more different than its counterpartsĀ because the other museums display paintings or some kind fine art made hundreds of years ago. but this museum displays things that are more relatable to us it may be something from seven to twenty years ago or something within the present or something thats being planned for the future.

The way the pieces or items were presented were a lot more interactive of course there were some things like all museums you can not touch but some such as the digital table we were able to touch and semi draw our designs onto it. but the most interesting object that i loved while walking around the museum was the ā€œDesign penā€ it was not only a giant stylus but it also stored data through the other end of it. so every time i liked something or thought it was interesting i would press the pen against the symbol on the wall and it would save that image or object so i can see it later on their website. all museums should add this function so it can be easier to keep that information digitally and not have to carry books in order to write down that information.

FARM HACK TOOLS, 2010ā€“PRESENT

This is a project. It was founded byGreenStart, Greenhorns and National Young Farmers Coalition. It is dated 2010ā€“present.

one of the items being displayed that i liked was this farm hack tool, because basically a person who doesnt have a lot o money to throw away cant afford a brand new tractor. so these people invented from scratch a funcional radical looking tractor. this was done im sure out of need but their design initiative is impressive.

ALGOL 11 TELEVISION, 1964

This is a television. It was designed byMarco Zanuso and Richard Sapper andmanufactured by Brionvega. It is dated 1964Ā and they acquired it in 2016.Ā Its medium is molded plastic, perspex, chromium-plated metal. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Ā i found this Tv very interesting and curious since ive researched tvs and other older items of the past online and ive got to see this Tv on an old sitcom from the 80s but i never thought i would see this tv model face to face. this tv like other models was Americas try on portable Tv which hasĀ not been a very popular option but its a very useful one. not only is it portable but in times of need it can be used with batteries.

RADIO, 1940ā€“49

This is a radio. It was designed by Charles Eames, Ray Kaiser Eames and Ray Eamesand manufactured by Emerson Radio and Phonograph Corp.. It is dated 1940ā€“49Ā and acquired onĀ 2016.Ā Its medium is bent wood, molded plastic. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

this radio Ā called my attention because ive been told many stories of how before people didnt have Tvs but the only thing they did have was the radio. not only was it for the news but for entertainment as well. short stories were read and numerous more things were announced though the radio. there are people who still prefer to use a radio instead of a Tv.
