We visited East River Child Development Center for our service learning project. We taught the children about nutrition and how to properly brush their teeth. We divided the kids into four groups. Each one of us had a different task. Cristina and Xuefei were assigned to demonstrate how to properly brush their teeth. Nancy worked at the gaming section. I was assigned to coloring activity, identifying the good/bad food and connect it to the healthy/unhealthy tooth. Our group did an amazing job. Eventhough they are children with disabilities, they’re high-functioning kids. They are sweet kids and adorable. We received a thank you card from the kids. It was a fun learning experience. Being active in community service, helps us to have a better understanding of our role as  dental hygienists.
