My philosophy of nursing is to always provide the kind of care that promotes healing that is judgment free. To quote Leininger, “Care is the essence of nursing and the dominant, distinctive, and unifying feature. There can be no cure without caring, but there can be caring with curing.”
As a healthcare professional I will do my best to uphold the goal that Leininger have for the nursing profession. Since I believe that nursing is a caring profession, I will strive to give excellent care regardless of culture, race, ethnicity, gender, age, financial status, spiritual beliefs, political views, and lifestyle choices. I will also do my best to care for my patient with compassion, respect, and love and to always do my best to be available to those who are in need physically, emotionally, financially, and spiritually.
I believe in making a difference in other people’s lives. I believe that nursing is a profession that can help me accomplish that goal. I believe that nurses must keep patients’ best interest at heart at all times by advocating for them especially when times that they cannot speak for themselves while practicing patient confidentiality. I believe that patients have the right to appropriate medical care and the right to life.
The future of nursing is promising yet constantly changing. In order to keep up with all these changes and in order to provide safe nursing care; I commit to keep my nursing license and certification up-to-date. I also will continue to educate myself through continuing education programs as well as aim in advancing my education and to dedicate time in training. As part of an interdisciplinary team, I commit to be an effective team member and to do my best to provide my patients a place conducive for healing.
