The arches of the bench create a frame within a frame, and the focus of the landscape with the backlight of the sun setting isn’t lost by the focus or blurring of the objects within the picture. This photo feels very inviting. With it’s shallow depth of field and focus on that center part of the photo, the entire foreground and background are blurred. Even with this, you can still tell that this is the iconic Coney Island boardwalk at sunset. For that reason alone I find this picture to be amazing. This photo has a great frame within a frame effect, and the spacing and framing of the lines is absolutely perfect. The bottom third of the photo does a great job of setting the environment without taking focus from the subject within the frame of the neon lights in the top two thirds of the photo. This nighttime photo is a fantastic use of available light from the neon sign. There are likely people in the far background of the photo, but the use of the darkens has them out of sight, creating a very ominous feel to this nighttime photo.
