Being apart of NYC college of technology dental hygiene program was not just about attending classes and clinicals when scheduled but about being involved in extracurricular activities whenever possible. Our SADAH group in the department attended P.S 69 in Staten Island, New York to mentor children with developmental disabilities and care givers on how to be great dental patients at home and in the dental chair. We saw multiple children with autism, down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. We had  hands- on practice with them brushing our stuffed animal models with real life looking teeth. We reached out to the care givers of these children and gave them pamphlets about proper oral health and free samples such as toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Halloween Toothbrush Sale. Spreading oral health awareness and fund raising by selling tooth brushes for a good cause.

The Greater NY Dental Meeting, Javit’s Center, New York, NY. Volunteering to educate children how to brush and floss at the Greater NY Dental Meeting was an amazing experience that I will never forget.
