My name is Tanesha Makhanlall. I live in South Ozone Park, Queens. I am currently in my third year at City Tech majoring in Graphic Arts Production Management. I haven’t really had the chance to read much over the summer although I wanted to. I have a few favorite books which a few of them are “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck and “Catcher in the Rye” by J. D. Salinger.

    A. how much of the readings for the semester will be coming from the text book?
    B. What will the midterm and final exams consist of?
    C. what will the essays I have to write consist of?

    A. What part of New York do you live in?
    B. Where do you work?
    C. What do you do for entertainment?

I am not familiar with any of the texts we are going to be reading this semester, but they do look interesting I am looking forward to reading. I’m not too sure how these texts would be useful to me because I don’t know what they are about. I am excited because finally I am able to get the chance to read again. I’ve been so caught up with life I haven’t gotten the chance.

I personally feel that fiction is the most entertaining genre of books. It’s the adventurous stories and creative writing that draws my attention to it. Just knowing that it isn’t true sometimes makes it way more interesting to read.

1.) Hello, my name is Makafui Ganu but everyone calls me Coffee. I live in Kensington, Brooklyn. I’m majoring in Liberal Arts & Science for now and this is my first year second semester here at City tech. I’ve read a lot of books since I like to read. Some are Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma, Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers, Leaving Paradise Series by Simone Elkeles, What Happened To Goodbye by Sarah Dessen, Wintergirls by Laurie Hale Anderson and many others. My favorite book of all time has to be the Animorphs series by K.A Applegate.
    Questions about the Syllabus:
    • How will the text relate to us?
    • When will we know what we are going to be reading?
    • Do we bring the text everyday?
Questions to help us get to know one another:
    • What is your favorite movie as of now?
    • What kind of music do you like?
    • What are your favorite sport teams?
    Text Reviews:
I’m really not familiar with any much of the work for the exception of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. The text that I think that will be very useful would be the 10 Things You Need to Know About Writing and 10 Things to Write About (College Edition). This would be really helpful because in the packet it talks about many parts in writing and it’s not too packed with information like other help books. As of now I do not have any questions about the text.

Fiction is writing that is based of more on imagination than theories and facts. It allows an author to create characters that can be based of their real lives or characters that are completely made up. It also allows new “worlds” and scenarios be created and allow the readers to imagine the story that they are reading. We should read fiction for enjoyment and entertainment but also for insight into characters that we may have never met but is allowed a chance to get a glimpse into their lives though fiction.
