Part 2:
The word Industrial means working with machines to produce goods. For example, people work with forklifts, cement trucks, conveyor belts, sewing machines, shredders, crushers, etc are considered industrial workers. Real people would use the word industrial by saying the city of Pittsburgh was once considered an industrial city because they produced steel.
Part 3:
The word Industrial comes from the Latin language “industria” means having a business in industry/factories. As a noun, the meaning is producing goods from a factory. The word community means a group of people who share a common interest or live in the same place. Besides the literal definition, the word community has a lot of different meanings because it can be used in many different ways. Some examples are a social media community, a work community, and a support group. The word community relates to industrial because there’s a whole community in Industrial City.
Industrial City is a community in Sunset Park, Brooklyn that has a lot of different communities within it. The communities that makeup Industrial City are food communities, shopping communities, working communities, and also a social gathering community. In the food community, the people working there make you feel very welcome. When going to the food court and you can get all types of food from ice cream to Thai food. In the shopping community, you also feel very welcome because the environment is very friendly. It shows that even though you’re not from the community, you feel like you are part of the community because there are so many shops. Also even though these different communities don’t produce goods in a factory it relates to industrial because there are producing things like food. While there is the professional side of Industrial City there is also a social gathering community that they have which you can do all of these different activities and meet new people. For example, they have flea markets, rooftop films, and little things to do during the holidays. The community that relates to the word industrial is the factory community because they have people working there but they also had factories that people worked in, making goods which is the definition of industrial. In the end, when I go to Industrial City I feel so welcomed even though I don’t live anywhere near there. I feel like I am part of the community.
In conclusion, the word industrial means to make or to produce goods. The word community means to have a common interest or live in the same neighborhood as people. These two words relate to each other because Industrial City once was all factories but now it is more than just factories. It’s a better community because there is not just one community anymore there are multiple that make it up, and even though they’re really aren’t factories any more at Industrial City the word still relates because they keep on producing things that are not from factories.
Part 4:
These photos show Industrial City. They show what Industrial City today is made up of a lot of communities than just one. In the first photo, you just see buildings but inside the buildings, they produce food which even though they are producing materials they are producing something. In the second picture with the other buildings inside they have shops and cafes, they produce goods for people as well. And the map shows all of the places where to go and what you can do while in Industrial city.
