Part II

Professionalism are either a person’s job or career that they most likely studied in. Professional means to act in a certain matter where one looks or acts accordingly. Some examples are people who work in kitchens or a doctor because these are people who have a career in a profession they studied in. Another example can be doctors and chefs. Both follow rules in their work area and carry themselves in a way that they act according to the rules given to them.

Essay#1

What is a community? How would you define it? There is no right or wrong answer. Why?  Because everyone has a different community. My community differentiates from my co-worker’s community or even my doctor’s.  A community to me is the one around you who make you feel safe and comfortable. It could be around where you live, your book club and even your work area. All of these groups of people are communities. And in a majority of communities there are professionals who are there when called upon such as firefighters or cops.

In a community, they can either be big or small. They each hold an atmosphere of professionalism. It’s often found in many areas. One is in a work space. It can be a restaurant, school or just an ordinary office. These small communities give a perfect example of professionals because people here know what they are doing and are able to apply what they know to other students, parents, or employees. All make a living doing what they learned and pursue their careers in these fields. My community needs this in order to teach our future leaders, politicians and doctors. These foundations are just the first step. And in every work space there’s a different way one acts professional to another worker around them. For example when I work as a waitress I not only act in a respectful and polite manner in front of customers but my boss and manager as well. I don’t rush a customer to order food or scream at them if I get frustrated. This is a huge way of me being a professional. I do it in order for them to see that I’m serious about my job and know what I’m doing. This might later in the future give me a promotion for being on task.

Professionals carry themselves in a certain way. Depending on their surroundings many will be respectful and patient such as doctors, nurses and dentist. Others carry themselves in a huge business like matter such as confident and ‘don’t question me’ attitude such as a CEO or a lawyer. Not every professional act the same in the behavioral aspect. Every community behaves differently with those around them. I see this in the restaurant I work in. The chefs all aware of their surroundings and know what to wear and what they need to do to get ready for dinner service.I know I have to get my station ready once I get to work. Get cups, straws etc. It’s an instinct now for me to behave and act the way I do at work. Which is being respectful, patient and try to never be rude to a customer no matter the day I had.

Professionals are in different areas of work. Not just in office cubicles. They can be found in hospitals, a kitchen, a hotel and even in your local deli. These communities aren’t just in one specific city or town. They are always around you and these professional communities will continue to grow. For example, if you need a doctor, one can download an app and access a doctor for any questions or concerns to one’s own health. Technology is helping in the growth of our professional communities in today’s society. Professionals will continue to be needed in our communities in the far future. No matter the technological advances.
