The attraction that I chose for the ‘Concierge Marketing Assignment’ is Roosevelt Island. The island is considered to be a part of Manhattan, and is easily accessible by tram, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. For a small fare of a Metrocard swipe, you can visit the island and explore its’ historical attractions such as: The Blackwell House (built in 1796) which is NYC’s sixth-oldest farmhouse, Chapel of the Good Shepard, a Gothic Revival-styled church (1889), Roosevelt Island, renamed in 1973, in honor of former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who served as governor of New York from 1929 to 1933, the Smallpox Hospital Ruins, a destination for those who fancy eccentric selfie backgrounds (1856), and more. On the island, you can find historical structures that date back as far as the late 1700’s. The event season is held in Four-Seasons Park from May through October such as: The Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival (free), pop-up library events with readings of children’s books (family-friendly), Park and Play with Sing for Hope’s Artist-Designed Piano (anyone can perform, free), fundraising events, #AscendWithPride (LGBTQ+ friendly), and movie showing events for those who enjoy outdoor movie dates.
This travel destination is unique because many New Yorkers themselves have never heard/been to Roosevelt Island. It is a place that has been constructed with NYC history (literally), full of architectural treasures, and not to mention that there is an activity for everyone during their seasonal events. It is an extension of NYC, and yet, the history imbedded in the island reminds you that you are not far from the city. Easily accessible, a multitude of events, and a perspective of the NYC skyline like you’ve never seen before- all great reasons for a tourist to visit this obscure island that is full of NYC culture and life.

For my concierge marketing assignment I chose Rockefeller Center. Rockefeller Center was built by John D. Rockefeller in 1930 but opened in 1933. It was constructed during the Great Depression which helped employ more than 40,000 people in the countries worst years. Rockefeller’s philosophy was to built a ‘city within a city’ and believed art was an act of good citizenship. Rockefeller Center holds many European artists works and is composed of 14 on-site buildings including Radio City Music Hall. It is best known for its famous ice skating rink, illumination of the Christmas tree, and The Top Of The Rock Observatory Deck. It is also known for dog shows, holiday gatherings, art exhibitions, and other anticipated social events. More than 120,000 people visit Rockefeller Center daily; on its own, it would have been the 51st largest city in the U.S..

I choose the, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, as my NYC attraction. The Met is the largest museum in the united states. Its permanent collection contains over two million works, divided among 17 curatorial departments. The main building at 1000 Fifth Avenue, along the Museum Mile on the eastern edge of Central Park in Manhattan‘s Upper East Side, is by area one of the world’s largest art galleries. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the most renowned Institution of its kind In the United States and one of the finest art museums In the world, occupies an imposing complex of buildings –a designated New York City Landmark– on Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street. The grandeur of the structure and its magnificent interior spaces–in particular, the Great Hal I and the Grand Staircase–are a fitting complement to the greatness of the institution.

I chose the ” Fearless Girl” statue, located in lower Manhattan. First installed in March 2017 across from Wall Street’s ” Charging Bull” at Bowling Green Park, the statue has since moved to a permanent location in the Financial District, right across from the New York Stock Exchange. It is an iconic bronze sculpture of a defiant girl, standing at about four feet high, done by an American Sculptor named Kristen Visbal. The message behind it was to raise awareness about the importance of gender diversity in corporate leadership ( specifically to promote female empowerment). To many New Yorkers and tourists, the ” Fearless Girl” statue is truly captivating, and one that made a really powerful statement.

For the concierge marketing assignment I have selected the Brooklyn bridge. The Brooklyn bridge has continuously played a huge role in the culture of NY since being officially opened on May 24, 1883 after 13 years of construction. It links the two boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan and is displayed majestically over New York City’s East River. Since being opened it has provided a cinematic means of transport for both locals and visitors. According to Sayenga (2019) “The first day, it was crossed by 1,800 vehicles”. Recent studies suggest that currently more than 140,000 vehicles, 4,000 pedestrians and 3,100 bicycles cross the Brooklyn Bridge daily.

For the concierge marketing assignment I selected Times Square. “ Time square, the heart of the Theater District”is an area located in . midtown Manhattan. Time Square is known for the New Year’s eve celebration. New Yorkers gather there and welcome the new year. Time Square is a major commercial, tourist and entertainment destination. I choose Time Square because anytime a family member comes from another state or country the first thing they want to see is time square. The big bright lights ,the restaurants and the hotels altogether is just a great experience.
