Douglas Wright

Born in Kingston Jamaica in the 1970’s, i grew up with a plethora of personalities around me. In fact, many people over the years have said that personality is in my DNA.

Though I “fell” out of high school and did not graduate, that didn’t stop me from doing what I ultimately wanted to do (hospitality). In 2007, I enrolled in a hospitality trade school back home, where I pursued a level II F and B captain Captain certification course.

In 2008, I graduated from said school as a certified level II F and B captain. Furthermore, I graduated top F and B student with four outstanding academic achievements under my belt.

Within that same year (2008), less than 30 days after graduating, I managed to land a managerial position at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville ( true story). I was in “awe”, this platform boosted my self confidence so much. I’ve since went on to manage other food and beverage outlets to include Accra Beach Hotel and Spa in Barbados, where I resided for almost two years.

Fast forward to 2020, I have completed my HSE in New York State, graduated high school and is now enrolled at CUNY City Tech pursuing my AAS in HM.

I think it’s good that even though you didn’t graduate high school, you didn’t let that stop you from coming to college and then you still ended up graduating. From that I can tell you are very hard working and you don’t let anything hold you back.
