As a community, we will establish the parameters of our communication, which will include deciding if certain words, phrases, or topics are appropriate to use in our course. When writing about a certain time period, be specific. Avoid generalizing: back then back in the day in those days Instead, refer to a specific year, decade, era, and remember that not everyone conformed to generalized ideas in a given time period.   How do you know which to use: girl, woman, lady, or female?
