In Black Mirror episode 1 season 3 we see how media/social media plays a big role in people’s daily lives. Their main purpose was to impress others on their social media for “higher ratings”. The ratings determines your social status and how you are viewed by the people around you. the main character sees an apartment but can’t afford it so she tries to boast up her rating, in the making of that she just ends up going crazy trying to prove herself to everyone. In the end, she has one the lowest rating and is put in jail.
