For the overall project, I learned how to read the color wheel and how to mix colors according to the color wheel. For instance, if there was a color that was red mixed with purple I would get a magenta color. Adding a bit of purple would make the magenta color be a dark purple, as well as when adding red to magenta will give you a dark red color. For my colored pencil color wheel, it was a lot easier to distinguish how the colors take a bit of color from the ones next to them to create the color wheel. During this part of the project, I used my pocket color wheel as reference to keep on track on how the colors should go. Painting the color wheel was tedious for me because all my gauche paint was a bit darker so any color, I used was a tad bit darker. Even when I was creating colors, I would have to be careful of the amount I put into the color itself because if I used a dark color on a light color the dark color would overpower the light color. My yellow was a neon yellow, and it was hard getting the accurate yellow more than once because I would forget how the color was mixed in the first place. This resulted to my green not being accurate and I retried it when I had the chance. When starting the complimentary color palette, it was hard trying to get back the color I original made so I can mix it with the second color. It was also the fact that the gauche paint dried too quickly so I had to remake my color several times and sometimes it would be a bit darker or lighter. The challenge for me in this project was the paint, working with the gauche paint was a pain and maybe it was the brand I used. I also saw fellow classmates using tape to keep their lines neat, so I will definitely do that for future projects.
