Texture Collage Drawings/Rubbings

For project 4 it was a bit more difficult for me because I was having a tough time distinguishing textures from patterns, I kept getting mixed up with patterns thinking it could be a texture. Using photoshop for the second time was a bit easier and I enjoyed trying to create some sort of flow and rhythm to my collage. For the texture collage I was going for a purple to pink monochrome pallet going from top to bottom, along with smooth to rough with smooth being the top of the page and rough gradually showing towards the bottom of the page. I at first didn’t like how my collage was turning out, but after working on it a bit better it is finally pleasing to my eyes. The thing I could have improved on would have been choosing better colors for purple because on photoshop it was difficult to change the color no matter how much I tried. The rubbing texture drawing was a bit tedious for me because the sketches came out better than my actual drawings and it was a bit upsetting. I felt like my sketches were just repeating with lines and I wanted something unique, and I found it hard because it was easier to look for smooth pictures but in terms of drawing them it was a lot harder. For the first row of squares, I decided to do smooth textures in the color purple which were all hand drawn. The second row of squares is where I chose to do the rough textures in the color green which were rubbings of the textures. The third row of squares had a mix of smooth and rough textures with the color being orange, and the first square being drawn and the rest being rubbings of textures. The second orange square was where I first tried to do yellow until I realized that yellow can’t work as a monochrome, so I than changed to orange in hopes it could show some shade of orange. Overall, I think I did much better digitally than I did with paper and out of all projects I have done I think this one is my least favorite piece of art. Although for this project I was able to get an understanding of the color wheel and its different shade, tints, and different pallets, along with having a better understanding of the photoshop properties.
