In this project we got to paint, and it wasn’t my first time painting, so it was a good experience for me to have more knowledge in the field of painting. The task was to choose a landscape photo with a wide range of the gray scale, either it be the high key range, middle range, or the low-key range. I think I was able to get more of the high key range which is the lighter gray shades. During the painting process I wished I would have used washi tape for the borders, so I wouldn’t cross the border line. I really thought I could trust my hand to make straight lines but in the end that is never the case. When mixing colors, it was fun to try and match it up to its own shade and I think I did pretty decent in getting close to the shade as possible. For the darker shades I would mix white on black to get the darker grays as for the lighter shades I would mix a tiny bit of black on white to get the lighter grays. The one thing that was tedious for me would be when the paint dried too quickly, I would forget to add a bit of water which resulted in having tiny bits of paint in my painting. Overall, I am happy with the outcome of my painting even with a few mistakes, the one thing I do regret is not trying more shades for the darker side of the painting.
