The word I chose was Games, I like playing them and I wanted to see how far my curiosity could go from there. I was able to range from digital games to physical games such as Pokémon Go, Jenga, Animal Crossing, and Hopscotch. I was branching from game consoles to board games and outside games. For me curiosity feels like solving a jigsaw puzzle, meaning every piece is a type of curiosity and once it is all solved, you get a complete picture. The complete picture being your mind map and seeing how all that curiosity connected to make the big picture, is pretty satisfying. Since I am very interested in games and have had my fair share in playing most games, creating a mind map for it was fun, seeing how I was trying my best to remember all sorts of games. Although at the start I was very conflicted of what my mind map would consist of, meaning nothing of curiosity was striking me at that moment. Now in order to represent this as a composition I hope to give this project some 8-bit feeling with many shapes that come from the game themselves. For instance, with Jenga I will use rectangles, for Hopscotch I will use squares, and for Animal Crossing I will try to do one animal from the game.

My thought process during the inking stage changed a little from my refined sketches to better convey a composition. My first square on the upper left corner is supposed to convey a 50/50 along with the second square on the upper right corner. The game displayed in my first square is Pokémon go with a poke ball being at the top and Pikachu being at the bottom. The second square is Animal Crossing with the game character being Tom Nook and his eyes displaying a leaf from the game. In my third square at the bottom left the game is Jenga. I decided to leave the background positive so it could better show the building blocks, than coloring only three rectangles which wouldn’t convey the game Jenga. In my last square at the bottom right, it is Pokémon go again but this time the poke ball being in the middle along with a crosswalk being at the bottom. I wanted there to be a contrast between positive and negative for my last square, so when the squares are all put together on one page, they can correspond to each other in a way.
Deliver
For the project I think I should do things calmly with no rush because that resulted to a shaky hand and passing the lines and going through the negative space. Although I was able to cover up the mistake, I hope I get used to using a ruler because it is very coinvent but sometimes I would forget about such a tool. I think I could have improved my first square better if I really understood where I wanted to leave the positive space. This time I did change my brush to a micron brush and between both I think the micron left a lot more streaks than the original brush I used, so I think I’ll be using the original brush from the first project. Another square I think could have been better would be the bottom right, I feel like the Poke ball could be rounder and the rectangles for the cross walk could have been more wider. Overall, I have learned that to make a composition it requires for there to be a ground and background to be portrayed. I hope that with all the 4 squares I made, I was able to create a composition that could help me in future projects.
