In my Gothic Literature course, we examined and discussed various notable gothic texts, including The Castle of Otranto, Frankenstein, and Rebecca. For our final assignment, we were tasked with finding a piece of gothic literature from the modern era and explaining why we considered it to be considered gothic. For that reason, I chose the manga, Uzumaki, by Junji Ito, a Japanese horror manga artist.
