While I have never been much of a writer of poems, here are a few that I wrote for a creative writing course.
Tanka:
A Butterfly
Beside the window,
a marvelous butterfly.
Those luscious blue wings,
are frightened by my approach.
Its wings flap towards the light.
Memories of You
Their cry, saddens you.
Their laughter lifts your spirits up.
Their gaze, penetrates.
Their trust can never be lost.
Their significance, immense.
Photograph
A frozen moment,
to capture the joy today.
Capture emotions,
so once we’re old and gray,
we can reminisce and laugh.
Images
Pictures on the wall,
tell a different story.
Just a fallacy.
An image we create,
in order to fool the world.
Something More
I looked up and saw,
together shining so bright,
my wife and child.
They are more than just people,
my vulnerability.
Haiku:
Vanishing
One moment we’re here,
in another we vanish.
Is there a meaning?
Jane Doe
A freezing touch,
a haunting stare and pale skin.
Rigor mortis sets.
Mirror Mirror on the Wall
Who’s that staring back?
With such an ominous stare.
It’s my reflection.
Phonecalls
It took one phone call,
to shatter my entire world.
The answer was no.
Sands of Time
Time stops for no man,
prisoners of the hourglass,
it’s our life sentence.
An Invitation
The reapers laughter,
so chilling, yet inviting.
Very well, I’m ready.
