Breath, eyes, memory 13-19

While reading these chapters of the book, Sophie  has left her mother and is now married to Joseph and has daughter name Brigitte. You could see how Sophie is maturing and becoming a adult and making her own decisions. She went to Haiti to visit Tante Atie and her grandmother and they was extremely surprised to see her. She couldn’t Believe she was all grow and wasn’t a kid anymore also tante atie is learning how to read and write after all these years.

Breath, Eyes, Memory ch9-12

while reading these chapters Sophie is grown up and is in her teenage years. As most teenagers, she is going through the stage where she doesn’t listen to her mom when she wants to do what ever she wants.she is going through the rebellious phase. she meets this boy named joseph her mother doesnt want her seeing him but sophie sneaks out to see him anyway. during the chapter sophie ask her mom is it okay to see other boys, her mother begins to ask questions about the boy like who is he. sophie is caught coming home late from being with joseph, her mother then gives her the “test” but sophie finds her way around it and doesnt take it

Chapters 5-8

While reading the chapters that was assigned Sophie meets her mother . What caught my eye was the way she described her mother. Before this meeting, all Sophie knew about her physical appearance was based on that picture. When she first saw her she didn’t know look like the picture Tante atie Sophie described her as tired and drawn  she asked “am I the mother you imagined” and Sophie thought she would be the perfect woman and living the lavish life in New York but it seems like New York didn’t make her life better it wasn’t as good as Sophie thought

Breath, Eyes, Memory 1-4

In the beginning there is a little girl named Sophie she is the main character in the book she is also 12 just  who lives with her aunt Tante Atie in Croix-des-Rosets, Haiti because her mother Martine lives in New York. just wanted to point how the author is giving the reader a better idea of who these characters are and what we will be reading about Sophie was raised by her aunt who couldn’t read she didn’t want to learn either she said she thought she was to old to learn already. Her aunt Tante doesn’t want for Sophie to see her as a mother figure this moment stood out to me because Sophie still wants Tante to see her as aunt instead of a mother because she still has a mom in New York and doesnt want to make it seem like shes taking her.
